Call 1300 TENNIS or email to let us k
now you want to get involved. Alternatively fill out and fax an application form to 9878 5498. We will contact you to arrange a grading to assess your standard and determine which competition will suit you best. This way you can see how we operate at first hand, and decide if its for you. Usually you will first be asked to fill-in for an existing team. Once we have graded you we can then place you permanently in a grade and team that suits your timetable and skill level. Or you can opt to share a spot, or just fill-in

Don't feel ready for comp yet? Why not try our coaching? Private and Group lessons are available in Richmond and Nunawading at competitive prices

Fixtured Matches

All teams will be provided with a fixture by week three of the competition. The fixture details each weeks matches. Generally all matches are at the same time and place each week, but occasionally matches will be at different venues, or times. The fixture will show which team has a bye each week, if any. Be sure to check when you are not playing

Each season runs for approximately five months continuously. We don't play on public holidays and long weekends such as Labour Day and Queens Birthday. We do play the weekend prior to the Melbourne Cup, but Cup day itself is not fixtured

Finals

All teams are involved in Finals. Finals take place the two weeks immediately following the end of the public holiday, in the same time slot and at the same venue, unless otherwise notified

Within your competition the top four teams play off in two semi-finals to decide who will contest the GRAND FINAL and the CONSOLATION FINAL 1 v 4 2 v 3

The other teams take part in a BEST OF THE REST series:
* 6/7 team competition: Winner 5 v 6 vs loser 1 v 4, loser 5 v 6 vs loser 2 v 3. 7th team fills in

* 8/9 team competition: Winners 5 v 8 & 6 v 7 BofR Final, losers playoff. 9th team fills in

* 10 team competition: Winners 5 v 8 6 v 7 BofR Final. Loser 5 v 8 vs winner 9 v 10
Loser 6 v 7 vs loser 9 v 10

* 12/13 team competition: Winners 5 v 8 & 6 v 7 BofR Final, losers playoff. 9 v 10 1 v 12 winners & losers playoff. 13th team fills in

QUALIFICATION

A player must have played at least three games for a team that season to be eligible. If a team cannot find enough qualified players each replacement will incur a penalty of four games total. All replacements must be sanctioned by NetSports to ensure parity. If, due to unforseen circumstances, a player that NetSports deems unsuitable is booked to play a finals match, a penalty of eight games will be applied

RAIN DELAYS

If rain affects a finals night NetSports will attempt to reschedule the affected matches. In the case of missed semi-finals we will play them the following week immediately before the grand finals, using deciding tiebreaks instead of full sets. In cases where no finals can be played the final placings will be decided according to final ladder position

Fill Ins & Forfeits

If teams follow these guidelines they should always be able to field a complete team. These rules are in place to discourage late withdrawals and the disappointment they cause.

FILL-IN players should be used to ensure your team does not have to forfeit. The earlier you act to find a replacement, the more likely you are to be successful and avoid penalties. With the introduction of NetSports memberships, which allow members to play as many times a week as they wish at no extra cost, you should have no problem finding a player keen for a game!

It is always the team’s responsibility to provide a full complement of players each week. NetSports can help you if you are having difficulty. To find a Fill-In, follow these steps:

  1. Source your own replacement from amongst family and friends.
  2. Contact your captain and team mates, who may know of someone
  3. Contact NetSports on 1300 TENNIS
When a team is short a player, the team is penalised three games per set the player woudl have played in. If less than two hours notice has been given this counts as a "no show", and the team is expected to cover the missing fee which is adult $14, concession $10 or member $5.

When a player (members included) calls after 12pm on the day of the match, NetSports will try and find a fill-in on their behalf. A "late withdrawal" fee of $5 will be charged for this service. Similarly, if a player (members included) is unwilling to make their own fill-in enquiries at any time, the late withdrawal fee also applies.

In matches where your team is unable to field a full team, a penalty of six games applies for each missing player. The full team fee still applies. If at least two players are missing from any match, a FORFEIT is declared, and the opposition awarded maximum points. NetSports will organise a scratch match so that the remaining players do not miss out on a game.

The forfeit fee payable by the team is decided as follows:

  1. Notice to forfeit match more than 72 hours prior to its start, no charge
  2. Less than 72 hours prior to the start of the match, half the normal team fee will be due
  3. Less than two hours prior to the match or a no show, the full team fee will be due

Teams or players with outstanding fees will not be allowed to participate in finals.

Where extenuating circumstances make a late withdrawal unavoidable, NetSports will consider the situation and decide whether an exception to this policy can be made. In case of illness please provide a doctor's certificate.
