FUN FIRST

Tennis is about having fun!

Our coaching philosophy is built around creating an environment that inspires people to fall in love with our sport!

We’re passionate about building positive and trusting relationships with our students so that they feel supported on their tennis journey and want to keep playing the sport for life.

Beginner players

We’re passionate about helping beginners. Our ultimate goal is to help people who are brand new to tennis eventually be able to rally (hit the ball back and forth) with a friend.

The basics are essential. We work on motor skills, balance, coordination, controlling the tennis ball and gradually building the rally.

We have a tried and tested junior development pathway called Hot Shots (endorsed by Tennis Australia) and our own pathway for adults, called Adult Improvers.

Intermediate (+) players

For players motivated to take their game to the next level, you’re in great company as we have a number of coaches who have an experienced playing background.

Let’s delve into more advanced concepts like topspin, the key tennis grips, footwork, shot-selection, tactics and eventually higher level techniques for developing more power, spin and shot variety.

Benefits of Playing Tennis

Tennis can be enjoyed any way, any place, any time.
Here are just some of the great reasons to have tennis in your life.

Enjoyment

Striking a tennis ball is a great feeling that brings people together all year round. There are many ways to enjoy the game, whether it’s hitting with friends and family, playing comp, taking a weekly class, and watching the pros battle it out. There’s just one rule: Have fun!

WELLBEING

Tennis elevates our physical health and overall wellbeing. The combination of exercise and social interaction releases ‘feel good’ brain chemicals. ‘Happy hormones’ serotonin, dopamine, and endorphins help promote happiness and pleasure while reducing depression and anxiety. Simply put, tennis can be a source of therapy for people.

LIVE LONGER

Playing tennis also makes us live longer – possibly more than other sports. The Copenhagen City Heart Study, which followed over 8,500 people for 25 years, suggests recreational tennis players increase their life expectancy by an average of 9.7 years (badminton by 6.2 years, swimming by 3.4 years, and jogging by 3.2 years). Similarly, in a 2020 study published in the International Journal of Exercise Science, recreational tennis players who played at least twice a week were less likely to have obesity, felt more energised, and had better overall health. Read full article here.
